May 13-17, 2019

Reading: This week’s story is called “Building Beavers.” It is an informational text discussing how beavers build their homes. We will be practicing how to find the main idea in stories. We also are continuing to write telling sentences correctly. (Capital letter at the beginning, finger space between words, period at the end.) The amazing words for the week are: beaver, lodge, paddle, river, stream, and lake. The sight words to review are: the, was, to, like, and from.

Phonics: Ee is our focus letter. Initial and medial /e/ will be reviewed. We will also work on long vowel sounds.

Math: We are working on Unit 9, which is our last unit! The skill we are learning is Base ten. This teaches how to compose and decompose numbers to twenty as tens and extras ones. This means we will be making teen numbers by using a group of ten and some extra ones. It is an introduction to place value. We are also reviewing math skills that have been taught throughout the year.
