Week of April 2-6, 2018
Happy Easter!

Reading:  “Trucks Roll!” is our story for the week.  This is a rhyming, nonfiction book that presents types of transportation to help people do their jobs. We will practice how to compare and contrast to build comprehension. Prepositions will be introduced and poems will be practiced. The amazing words in the story are: trailers, cabs, haul, steering wheel, truckers, and headlight. The sight words to focus on are: what, said, and was.

Phonics: Our feature letter of the week is Uu.  The short /u/ sound, as in umbrella, will be taught in the initial and medial position of words.

Math: Topic 9 will begin this week. The students will be Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10. We will learn different ways to make numbers 4 through 10. Number sentences will also be written for these groups. (ex. 3+1=4, 2+2=4)

Reminders:

~The PTO basket auction is scheduled for April 14th and 15th. Our class is composing a “Cold Drinks” basket for the event. Please send your themed items or monetary donations to by April 5th in order to receive the free dress down ticket required for the Friday, April 6th dress down day. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. We appreciate your cooperation! Many thanks for the donations we have received!

~ Spring Pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, April 3rd.

~ Please continue to practice sight words daily. I am so happy to see the students recognizing these words immediately when they are reading. It is very beneficial to improve their fluency.
