Week of April
10-14, 2017
Reading: This week’s story is called “Trucks
Roll!” This rhyming, nonfiction book discusses what types of transportation
help people do their jobs. We will practice how to compare and contrast
to build comprehension skills. Prepositions will be introduced and poems
will be practiced. The amazing words in the story are: trailers,
cabs, haul, steering wheel, truckers, and headlight. The sight
words to focus on are: what, said, and was.
Phonics: This week’s feature letter is Uu.
The short /u/ sound, as in umbrella, will be taught in the initial and
medial position of words.
Math: Topic 10 (Composing Numbers 11 to 19)
is a hard concept for the children. Therefore, we will continue with extra
practice on these concepts for the week. Please help your child remember the
equal, plus, and minus signs.
