Week
of April 4-8, 2016
Reading: This week’s story is called “Trucks
Roll!” It is a rhyming, nonfiction book that discusses what types of
transportation help people do their jobs. Throughout the week we will compare and contrast to build
comprehension skills. Prepositions will
be introduced and poems will be
practiced. The amazing words in
the story are: trailers, cabs, haul,
steering wheel, truckers, and headlight.
The sight words to focus on
are: what, said, and was.
Phonics: This week’s letter is Uu.
The short /u/ sound, as in umbrella,
will be taught in the initial and medial position of words.
Math: Topic 10 (Composing Numbers 11 to
19) will be tested before moving on to Topic 11. This unit decomposes numbers 11 to 19. The students will be using ten frames
to break apart the numbers into parts that show ten ones and some further ones.
