Week of February
27- March 3, 2017
Reading: We will complete “Goldilocks and the
Three Bears” this week. The next story
is an informational text called “If You Could Go to Antarctica.” The comprehension
skill in this story is classifying and categorizing. The amazing
words for the week are: Antarctica, continent, icebergs, penguins,
seals, and whales. The sight words stressed this week
are: here, go, and from. We will also discuss how to write
sentences correctly. Capital letters and periods will be stressed
further this week.
Phonics: Ee
is the letter accompanying these lessons. We will discuss both the long and
short sound for this vowel. However, the focus is on the short /e/ sound, as in
egg. The sound will be taught in the beginning and middle of words.
Math: Topic 7’s “Understanding Addition”
will finish up this week. This topic teaches joining groups, using the plus
sign, finding sums, and writing addition sentences. Topic 8 “Understanding
Subtraction” will also begin. The
lessons include separating groups, taking
away, using the minus sign, finding
differences, and writing subtraction sentences.
